Statements are very clean and intact except for light age toning, a few horizontal fold lines, a few almost imperceptible spots, and a few small pinholes or punctures. Each document and the entire collection are Very Good. A collection of seven statements and four business letters from S. Gerson & Company of Sacramento, California to J. W. Lambert & Company, a general store in Eureka, Nevada. The printed header reads, "S. Gerson & Co., General Commission Merchants, No. 220 J Street." The letterhead also has the following printed text: "Wholesale Dealers in Imported & Domestic Fruits, Vegetables, Nuts, Etc." The statements are mostly listed financial transactions for the months of February, April, August, October, and November 1896 and January and February 1897 (statements are each dated the first of the next month). A few of the statements have urgent notes written on front expressing the hope that J. W. Lambert & Co. will send specific shipments soon. Some of the statements also have inscriptions referring to crops. For example, an inscription on the November 1896 statement reads, "Don't you want some cranberries?" The four business letters are of a similar nature. In the letters, S. Gerson & Co. discusses business transactions with J. W. Lambert & Co. S. Gerson & Co. appears to express concern or frustration in each of the four letters as J. W. Lambert & Co.'s shipments came late or had like issues. Excerpt from March 6 letter: "Dear Sirs, Your order for vegto. [vegetables] to go by Ex. today did not reach us until this afternoon and the train leaves here at 11:40 AM. We will forward same Monday. No doubt you will be disappointed not receiving vegto. for Saturday but it was no fault of ours. . We don't know where the fault lies, but there certainly ought to be complaint made at your press office for this occurs too often." Some of the statements and letters also mention other crops such as potatoes, walnuts, almonds, oranges, chestnuts, lemons, and bananas.…
