Item description from seller

Four smart volumes on the art of dining and entertaining, with guides to gardening and the history of cider. Four volumes. This set contains: Table Topics, 1961. First edition. A collection of delightful anecdotes on gourmets and great dishes, with a collection of topics to explore at the table. With chapters on war and wine, and remembered meals and bottles. The Gourmet's Garden, 1964. First edition. With illustrations throughout. A collection of tips from a green-fingered gardener and a connoisseur in the kitchen, providing instructions for all lovers of good food on the best ways of growing and storing crops at home. Written by Douglas Bartrum, an English gardener, food writer, and author. Self-Sufficiency: Science and Art of Producing and Preserving Your Own Food, 1974. Later printing. A call to arms for the growing army of people in the cities and country who deplore the modern methods of food production and would rather learn how to safely and economically produce and preserve their own foods. Written by John and Sally Seymour, a British husband-and-wife team, who were authors and pioneers in the self-sufficiency movement. The History and Virtues of Cyder, 1982. First edition. Illustrated throughout. A detailed history of the production of cyder - real cyder - from the farmers and country gentlemen who had originally made this delightful and delicious tipple. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original dust wrappers remain unclipped other than The Gourmet's Garden and Table Topics which have been price-clipped. Wrappers are smart with light wear to the extremities and the odd small mark. Minor sunning to the spines. Sympathetic reinforcements to the head and tail of the spine of The Gourmet's Garden made with tape to the internal side of the wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown with contemporary ink inscription to the odd volume's endpaper. Very Good Indeed.…
