"Collected Works of Padraic H. Pearse: The Story of a Success & the Man Called Pearse" provides an essential look into the educational philosophy and personal character of one of the most influential figures in Irish history. The volume is centered around "The Story of a Success," Pearse's own account of the founding and management of St. Enda's School (Scoil Éanna). In this narrative, Pearse outlines his innovative vision for an Irish-centered education, emphasizing the importance of cultural identity, language, and the inspiration of the heroic tradition in shaping the youth of Ireland.

In addition to Pearse's autobiographical reflections on his pedagogical mission, the work includes "The Man Called Pearse," a biographical study by Desmond Ryan. As a former pupil and close associate, Ryan offers an intimate and respectful portrait of Pearse, exploring the ideals and motivations that drove him as a teacher, a poet, and ultimately, a revolutionary leader. This collection is a significant historical document that captures the spiritual and intellectual underpinnings of the movement for Irish independence. It is an invaluable resource for those seeking to understand the legacy of Padraic Pearse beyond his role in the 1916 Easter Rising, focusing instead on his profound contributions to Irish education and nationalist thought.
