His new friendship with Adele Mallot was the one source of delight in an otherwise fragile destiny.
Adele had survived an unpleasant, abusive marriage. She had found the courage to leave her husband and make a life for herself and young son. As her friendship with Lucas grew, she found that he was a strong, gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor. These were all attributes sadly lacking in her former husband.
When she, herself, was stalked, she discovered that it was her friendship with Luc that precipitated it. The next attack against Adele was vicious, and drastic measures were implemented by the police agencies. She didn't know if Lucas wanted friendship or love, she only knew that she loved him. She would be there for him if he wanted her.
The Coin has Two Sides--love or hate; life or death. They had no way of knowing how it would end.
