The hospital is not the target.
The system is.
For Dr Rebecca Morgan, director of one of Atlanta’s busiest emergency departments, controlled chaos is normal. Hundreds of patients arrive every day, resources are always stretched, and every shift demands decisions that can change lives.
Then the numbers begin to climb.
Car crashes. Fires. Collapses. Multiple casualty incidents. Ambulances arriving faster than beds can be found. Before long, Metropolitan Medical Center is operating far beyond anything it was built to survive.
At first, it looks like terrible luck.
It isn’t.
Someone has realised that destroying a city does not require attacking its hospitals. All you have to do is overwhelm the systems that keep people alive.
As the emergency department pushes beyond five hundred percent capacity, Rebecca, charge nurse Monica Alvarez, young doctor Ethan Brooks, paramedics, police officers and firefighters are forced to make decisions no medical professional ever wants to face.
Who gets a bed.
Who gets the last ventilator.
Who can still be saved.
And who cannot.
Outside the hospital, investigators begin to understand that the disasters spreading across Atlanta are connected. Inside, the staff have no time to wait for answers. More patients are coming, supplies are disappearing, exhaustion is taking its toll, and every decision carries a human cost.
Because the people behind the attacks do not need to destroy the emergency department.
They only need to make it fail.
Code Blue is a relentless, emotionally grounded medical disaster thriller about doctors, nurses and first responders facing an impossible question:
What happens when good people are asked to save more lives than they physically can?
