Paperback. Thoracic surgery represents one of the most demanding and rapidly evolving fields in modern medicine, requiring a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, surgical decision-making, advanced operative techniques, and comprehensive patient management. Clinical Thoracic Surgery Handbook provides a practical and clinically focused resource designed to guide surgeons, trainees, medical professionals, and healthcare learners through the essential principles and advanced practices of thoracic surgical care. From the initial evaluation of patients with thoracic disorders to complex operative procedures and long-term postoperative management, this handbook presents a structured approach to understanding the full spectrum of thoracic surgery. It explores the foundations of surgical decision-making, preoperative risk assessment, diagnostic evaluation, pulmonary function interpretation, minimally invasive techniques, oncological principles, emergency management, and future innovations shaping the specialty. Inside this comprehensive guide, readers will discover practical insights into: 1. Patient evaluation and surgical preparation, including cardiopulmonary assessment, imaging interpretation, functional testing, risk prediction, and optimization strategies before surgery.2. Major thoracic surgical procedures, including lung resections, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, segmentectomy, complex pulmonary resections, esophageal surgery, mediastinal procedures, airway reconstruction, chest wall surgery, and diaphragmatic repair.3. Modern minimally invasive approaches, including video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS), robotic-assisted thoracic surgery (RATS), digital surgical planning, and emerging technologies.4. Thoracic oncology principles, including lung cancer staging, lymph node evaluation, oncological resection principles, multimodal therapy, targeted treatments, and personalized surgical approaches.5. Perioperative and critical care management, including anesthesia considerations, mechanical ventilation, pain control, enhanced recovery pathways, ICU management, and postoperative monitoring.6. Complication prevention and emergency management, covering respiratory failure, air leaks, bleeding, infection, airway emergencies, trauma management, and crisis decision-making.7. Evidence-based practice and future directions, including surgical research, quality improvement, artificial intelligence, regenerative medicine, precision medicine, and the evolving role of the thoracic surgeon. Beyond surgical techniques, this handbook emphasizes the principles that define excellent thoracic surgical practice: careful patient selection, ethical decision-making, multidisciplinary collaboration, safety-focused care, and the continuous pursuit of improved outcomes. Designed as both a learning resource and a clinical reference, Clinical Thoracic Surgery Handbook serves as an essential companion for thoracic surgery residents, general surgeons, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, medical students, advanced healthcare professionals, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of modern thoracic surgical practice.
