2nd ed, 1931, VG, 74 illustrations. His first and perhaps best book. In blue cloth, gilt title, blind edge tooling, corners & edges lightly worn & bumped. Spine, edges bumped, gilt title & tooling. Internally, half title, frontis, [7], (viii-xx), [1], 2-307 pp, [1], 74 illustrations (B&W photographic, including 1 large folding), some light foxing to edges of titlepage and half title plus the last couple of pages, (Neate 727). (Folio, 140*218 mm). Title continues: in the Alps, Great Britain and Corsica. With a foreword by Geoffrey Winthrop Young. Smythe, mountaineer and author, was perhaps the most popular mountain writer in English that there has ever been.
