"Clefi's Music Notebooks 1 - 4" are full-color music publications for elementary and middle schools, music schools, private music studios, and individual self-learners. If not for their professionally crafted content and enticing illustrations, they stand out especially because of their unique concept. As a series, all four volumes together provide a comprehensive overview of musical notation and the fundamentals of music theory with examples of their practical applications. Each volume draws aspiring musicians closer to exploring the fascinating world of music, while all four volumes are seamlessly integrated, allowing students to acquire foundational musical skills in a fun and friendly manner. However, each part can also be used independently, providing a well-structured approach to a particular set of educational material. The beautiful graphic design enhances the quality of these high-quality text/workbooks.
In Celfi’s Music Notebook 2, young musicians can learn about the pitch class system and learn more about scales. They will discover the differences between major and minor scales, and learn how to use the circle of fifths to create all the major scales with sharps and flats. Clefi and Notelina talk about intervals and how to create fifth chords and their inversions. They talk about chord symbols, which will be needed later on when creating harmonic accompaniment. We will also learn about tempo markings, repetitions, upbeats, octave transpositions, syncopes, and triplets.
At the end of the book, we will travel back in time to uncover the origins and evolution of the minor scale. We will explore why we use three forms of the minor scale today: natural, harmonic, and melodic. Additionally, we will read about the famous Greek scholar Pythagoras, who studied tones and discovered the principles that influence their pitch. His work laid the foundation for the theory of tuning and intervals.
“Clefi’s Music Notebook 2” Content: Musical Notation, Duration of Notes and Rests, Major Scales with Sharps, Perfect Intervals, Major and Minor Intervals, Fifth Chords, Chord Symbols, Scale Degrees, Circle of Fifths, Major Scales with Flats, Tempo Markings, Symbols in Musical Notation, Pickup Measure, Octave Transposition, Accent, Syncopation, Triplet, Tonality, Minor Scale, Types of Minor Scales, Tuning."Synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
