Renewed endpapers and blanks. Lacking half titles and advertisements.A charming account of Italy written by Anglo-Irish Catholic priest and antiquary, John Chetwode Eustace, who travelled through the country with three of his pupils. His subsequent handbook earned him an instant success, detailing the history of various regions and giving reflections of ancient ruins, museums, buildings, and ancient thinkers. Bound in half crushed morocco, with marbled paper covered boards. Externally, with rubbing to the extremities and lifting to the leather, notably to Vol I head of spine. Crack to Vol I front joint, which is tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages with scattered spots throughout. Good.
