Neuware - 'Civic Science in Home and Community' is a comprehensive exploration of the practical application of scientific principles to everyday life and social responsibility. Written by George W. Hunter, this work emphasizes the vital connection between scientific knowledge and the improvement of the standard of living within both the domestic sphere and the broader community. The text moves beyond abstract theory to address the immediate concerns of a developing society, including sanitation, public health, and the efficient management of modern resources.Divided into sections that examine the environment of the home and the collective needs of the city, the book covers essential topics such as water purification, waste management, food safety, and the prevention of disease. It aims to foster a sense of 'civic consciousness,' encouraging readers to understand how scientific advancements can be harnessed to create safer, cleaner, and more efficient living spaces. With its focus on domestic science and community hygiene, this work stands as a significant historical document in the evolution of science education and its role in shaping modern citizenship.
