This book contains 55 of the 110 interviews from the feature-length documentary Cinematographer Style. The lessons from these interviews is that there is no textbook for cinematography. It is an art, like painting, writing or composing. No two artists express themselves in exactly the same way.
About the Author: Jon Fauer attended Collegiate School in New York, and graduated with honors in Art and Film from Dartmouth College. His mentors were screenwriter-director Maurice Rapf, director Joseph Losey, cinematographer Andrew Laszlo, ASC, and film historian Arthur Mayer. He began work in documentaries around the world with Mel London at Vision Associates, ABC, CBS, PBS, American Sportsman, and National Geographic, and moved into features, television, commercials, and more documentaries. He has directed and shot high-end technology and fashion commercials for Neutrogena, Rhinocort, Porcelana, among many others, winning numerous awards, including Best Director and Best Cinematography. He is author of 11 best-selling books on cinematography and digital imaging, published by ASC Press, ARRI and Focal Press. Fauer has lectured on filmmaking at Columbia University, Dartmouth College, Southampton College, School of Visual Arts, NYU, RIT, Kodak, AFI, Cinegear, CINEC, Camerimage, and others.
