Print on Demand. This book delves into the historical and intellectual origins of rural cemeteries, using the example of Cincinnati's Spring Grove Cemetery as a primary case study. The text provides a rich overview of the cemetery's design and landscaping and its role in the development of the broader rural cemetery movement. The author draws on extensive historical research and original source material to explore how Spring Grove's founders and designers drew inspiration from European models, including PÃ re Lachaise in Paris and Mount Auburn in Boston. The book also examines the cemetery's role as a reflection of changing societal attitudes towards death and mourning in the 19th century. Ultimately, this book offers valuable insights into the history of landscape architecture, urban planning, and the cultural significance of cemeteries in American society. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
