Print on Demand. Deep within the fabric of this nation lies rich religious heritage, born of the struggles of early American Christians. From their unyielding faith grew powerful churches, schools, and ministries, which shaped the moral landscape of the country. Yet amidst this spiritual tapestry, a growing chasm divides the churches from those who yearn for their guidance. The author embarks on a journey to uncover the root of this estrangement, exploring complex social, racial, economic, and cultural factors that hinder the spread of Christianity. He delves into the plight of immigrants, the rise of capitalism, industrial strife, and the relentless westward expansion that reshaped American society. By shedding light on these barriers, the author seeks to bridge the gap between the church and those it strives to reach, offering insights that illuminate the path toward a more inclusive and vibrant Christian presence in America. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

It has been my desire to show in an intimate, popu lar, and concrete form the serious situation confront ing the churches of America, and suggest ways in which they may work in the spirit that prevailed in the early Christian centuries, when, without facilities for reaching and serving the people, astonishing spiritual results were obtained. The inference is that America may become Christian in the fullest sense and influ4 ential among the nations in the broadest way if her highly organized Christian forces, with modern tools in hand, can feel the individual responsibility and have the consecration and personal enthusiasm of the Chris tians of the first century.
