Bevelled edges. 11.5ins x 9ins, new endpapers, xxxi, (i), 375pp, plus frontis and 65pp plates (69 images) as listed. Scattered light foxing to text pages else contents VG. Externally the original spine has been relaid with a small amount of loss to top & bottom (quarter inch and half inch respectively). A good sound copy of a fairly scarce work. First edition in the publisher's original cloth binding. Written by Rev. Philip Richard Pipon Braithwaite, who was the Canon Residentiary at Winchester Cathedral. This work presents a number of religious artefacts, with descriptions and illustrations. These include pewter church vessels, ecclesiastical plates and secular plates. Braithwaite reflects on the great loss to the Church and to archeology over the centuries, whilst also honouring what items still exist. With seventy illustrations throughout. Collated, complete. With a library bookplate of the City of Cardiff Public Libraries, to the front paste down. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light bumping to the extremities and to the spine. Light rubbing. A touch of fading to the spine and the occasional mark to cloth. Light offsetting to endpapers.
