Print on Demand. This book provides a detailed explanation of the Church Catechism, a key manual within the Church of England and a testament to the devout spirit and sober judgment that have long characterized English Christianity. The author's goal is not simply to prove or enforce the doctrines contained within, but to present them in a manner that is clear and meaningful to readers. Insight into the history, structure, and general teachings of the Catechism is provided, with particular attention paid to its three main sections: The Creed, the Commandments, and the Lord's Prayer. The author draws connections between the Catechism's teachings and broader historical and literary contexts and offers interpretations of its thematic depth and ideas. By shedding light on the foundational principles of the Church of England, this book serves as a valuable resource for deepening one's understanding of its beliefs and practices. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …

The deficiencies and inaccuracies of these pages would be many more than they are bad it not been for suggestions and information supplied by previous workers in the same field. References to names will be found wherever it has seemed natural and useful to give them: here it must be enough to mention generally those Of Nicholson, Blunt, Norris, Maclear, Daniel and Allen.
For valuable help the author is indebted to many friends to whom he has turned for general counsel or particular assistance during the progress of his work. To the Bishop of Wakefield and Dr A. J. Mason, as also to his brother Prof. J. Armitage Robinson, his most sincere thanks are very specially due.
It only remains that he should say that he will esteem it a great kindness if any of his readers will be at the pains to point out to him any ways by which this book may be brought into more thorough accord with the devout spirit and sober judgment Of the English Church, or by which it may be rendered more practically serviceable to those who are to use it.
