The book is in pristine condition. The First Congregational Church of Ellsworth was organized in 1812, but it was not until 1846 that Blue Hill master builder Thomas Lord built the sanctuary. The Church Street church is also notable for surviving the Great Ellsworth Fire of 1933, which destroyed most of downtown including neighboring City Hall. Herbert T. Silsby II was a prominent local figure, judge, and historian.
