About this Item
Octavo. XVI, 449, [1]pp. Original cloth with gold lettering on spine and front cover. Scholarly conclusions have varied widely on whether the Tannaic layers of rabbinical literature have any genuine references to Jesus. R. Travers Herford in his "Christianity in Talmud and midrash" accepted a broad range of explicit and implicit references to Jesus to be authentically Tannaitic. While the author was somewhat critical of their accuracy, he seems almost never to have met a possible reference to Jesus that he did not like. Gold lettering on binding slightly faded. Binding in overall good to good+, interior in very good condition. Seller Inventory # 28711
