In this book, Andrew Murray skillfully takes us into Jesus’ school of prayer. The book was written over a hundred years ago, but because it is completely biblical, it is also completely timeless. However, to make the truths that it contains more accessible, the book’s original language has been updated to make it more clearly understood by modern readers. Here is an excerpt.“The Father waits to hear every prayer of faith, to give us what we determine, and what we ask in Jesus’ name. We have become so accustomed to limit the wonderful love and the large promises of our God that we cannot read the simplest and clearest statements of our Lord without the qualifying clauses by which we hedge them in and explain them away. If there is one thing I think the church needs to learn, it is that God intends for prayer to be answered, and that it has never entered the human mind what God will do for his child who devotes himself to believe that his prayer will be heard. God hears prayer. This is a universally acknowledged truth. But very few understand the meaning, or experience the power of it. If what I have written stirs my readers to read Jesus’ words, and take his amazing promises simply and literally as they are written, my objective will have been achieved.”The book is written in 31 short chapters, making it perfect to use as devotional material.
