Item description from seller
Language: English. About The Book: In "Christ and Other Masters," the author explores the remarkable parallels and differences between Christianity and ancient world religions. The book highlights how various religious systems across diverse regions have exhibited striking correspondences throughout history, suggesting the presence of profound, divine influences on human spirituality. These moments of convergence serve as turning points or epochs in history, shaking societies from centuries of stagnation and igniting spiritual awakenings. The work delves into the emergence of new ideas, the transformation of beliefs about God, humanity's origin and destiny, and how these changes simultaneously spread across geographically distant and culturally diverse regions, reshaping human civilization. About The Author: Charles Hardwick (1821–1859) was an English historian and Church of England priest who later became the Archdeacon of Ely. After an academic journey, he held various roles including a professor of divinity and Christian advocate. Hardwick was a prolific editor and author, contributing to historical and religious literature. Tragically, his life ended in 1859 when he fell from a precipice in the Pyrenees. His work, "History of the Articles of Religion," and other publications, left a lasting impact on religious scholarship. About The Editor: Francis Procter (1812-1905) was a scholar and author known for his extensive work on the history of religious texts and their comparative analysis. He contributed to publications like "Breviarium ad usum insignis ecclesiae Sarum" and "Christ and other Masters," where he explored the parallels and contrasts between Christianity and ancient religious systems. Additionally, Procter delved into the history of the Book of Common Prayer, providing insight into its evolution. His works remain valuable resources for those interested in religious history and the development of religious texts.
