Add to basketExtracted from Memoires concernant l'Asie Orientale, 1916, tome II, folio, pp. [1], 124-177, [1]; 7 plates; modern green buckram, gilt title on spine; chips and closed tears at edges and in gutter with some repairs, marginal annotations largely to provide pinyin readings, ownership signature of J. Ware and Richard Buchar(?), and ownership seals, good. Pelliot was one of the pre-eminent Sinologists of this time and is best known for his work on the medieval manuscripts discovered in the Dunhuang caves. In this chapter he analyzes a fragment from those caves, the Shang shu shi wen (????), Pelliot fonds 3315 at the Bibliotheque Nationale. Scarce, with no copies of the extract or its source publication in the trade.
