Book block solid and clean: xxviii (including folding frontis map and title page), 419 (1) pp. Presentation to Mr. Alexander Davidson by Thomas Clark, M.D., Professor and Joseph S. Brazier, Assistant Professor. Dr. Thomas Clark (1801-1867, Dictionary of National Biography, Vol. 10) developed useful analytical techniques. Brazier ((1825)-1889), assistant to Clark, then assistant to Andrew Fyfe and succeeded Fyfe as Professor at University of Aberdeen. Davidson took James Clerk Maxwells course in Natural Philosophy (1858-9) while a student at Marischal College (1857-1860). His student notebook from this course (he received a second-class merit from Professor Maxwell) is in the Cambridge University Library. After graduation, Davidson continued his fathers paper-making business which eventually closed in 2005. Buyer's.
