LORDS BUILD THRONES. WE HOLD THE CEILING. NO LIVING BEING IS RUBBLE FOR ANOTHER.
Victory beneath the Old Granite Quarry came with a devastating price. Elisander died beneath the falling timber, and his sacrifice turned an impromptu rescue into an unbreakable vow. But while Rehan’s outlaw crew has been crushed, the High Council still controls the mountain’s courts, debt ledgers, and public truth.
Trapped in the flooded shafts of the Iron Ridge, Grimslam, Brom, Izzy, and Grok face an impossible choice. With the upper tunnels collapsed and the blackdamp rising, their only road forward leads downward into the dark—through the stagnant waters of the abandoned Deep Tluam pump station, past blind subterranean stalkers, and directly into the path of Councilman Orin Stonehand’s private enforcers.
As Council bailiffs move to purge the lower wards and silence every witness with iron, this battered crew of survivors must master the machinery of the mountain itself. With an orphaned gargoyle bat nestled in Grok’s collar and an ancient survey key in hand, they must hold the line when the bedrock buckles—and forge a sanctuary strong enough to defy an empire.
Chainbreak is the second installment in THE UNBROKEN MARK, an epic ten-book working-class dark fantasy saga by CJ Green, exploring the enduring power of found family, mutual aid, and the dignity of ordinary labor.
