Print on Demand. This book is a comprehensive compendium of over a century's worth of research on the cerebellum's functions. Emerging as an authority on the subject, the author meticulously examines the relationship between the cerebellum and the rest of the central nervous system, with emphasis on the part designated as the vermis. Delving into a detailed exploration of the cerebellum's structure, including the cortex and nuclei, the author methodically dissects the various afferent and efferent pathways connecting it to the cerebral cortex, brainstem, and spinal cord. An essential guide for neuroscientists and clinicians alike, it underscores the critical role the cerebellum plays in coordinating movement, balance, and cognition. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. …

With its furrowed and lamellated appearance it is related to all the other parts of the central nervous system in which, by volume, it occupies the Second place it is but a misnomer to call it the little brain or Kleinhirn as do the Germans as this name is neither justified by morphology, histology nor physiology.
