A smartly bound edition of this comprehensive encyclopaedia of names, a fantastic etymological resource. Reprint, originally published 1894. A comprehensive and extensive encyclopaedia of names, a pronouncing and etymological dictionary of names in geography, biography, mythology, ethnology, art, archaeology, fiction, and more. This encyclopaedia is an outgrowth of The Century Dictionary - it was originally intended as an appendix to this work, but as its size increased, it became clear that it required its own volume. Edited and compiled by Benjamin E. Smith, an American editor. Bound in half black crushed morocco with blue cloth boards. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and rubbing to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine and the odd small mark. Internally, firmly bound with the preface pages loosening. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. A small tear to the front and rear endpapers. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 886T75
