"Centennial History of the First Baptist Church of Waterville, Maine" offers a comprehensive and detailed account of one of the region's foundational religious institutions. Written by Minnie Smith Philbrick to commemorate the church's one-hundred-year milestone, this work serves as both a historical record and a tribute to the spiritual and social development of the Waterville community.

The narrative traces the church's evolution from its early 19th-century beginnings through its growth during a century of significant change in Maine. It documents the leadership of various pastors, the construction and renovation of church buildings, and the active role of the congregation in local civic life. By examining the minutes, membership rolls, and major events that shaped the church, the work provides valuable insights into the broader history of the Baptist denomination in New England.
