Catching Cornwall in Flight is a warm, sharply observed memoir in which a noted dialect expert reflects on his Cornish boyhood and the people who shaped it. Blending humour, nostalgia and linguistic insight, he captures the rhythms of everyday life, the quirks of local speech and the character of the “bettermore” class of villagers who coloured his early years. The book offers a vivid portrait of Cornwall in transition, preserving voices, customs and stories that were already beginning to fade. A charming, character-rich volume for readers of regional history, dialect enthusiasts and lovers of authentic Cornish life.
