277pp. A teenager in the midst of feelings of alienation and existential questioning--who would've thought? Salinger's main protagonist, Holden Caulfield, embodies the confusion, angst, and resistance to societal norms that many adolescents experience, but specifically the complexities of those in post-war New York City. An obvious classic of American literature, The Catcher in the Rye continues to be celebrated as one of the most important and relevant coming-of-age novels of the 20th century. Owner's stamp rear paste down, several 1/2"-1" spots of tape browning to front and rear endpapers (tape removed), spine title lightly faded, top edge foxed, overall a very good or better copy, internally tight and clean. Lacking dust jacket. Publisher's black cloth, lacking dust jacket.
