Compiled by the Brooklyn Museum and edited by William Burt Cook, this catalog serves as a vital resource for scholars and enthusiasts of ancient Egyptian history, art, and language. The collection represents one of the most significant gatherings of Egyptological literature from the nineteenth century, reflecting Wilbour's lifelong dedication to the study of the Nile Valley.

The work meticulously lists thousands of volumes, including rare archaeological reports, linguistic studies, and historical treatises. It provides a detailed overview of the primary and secondary sources that shaped the early academic discipline of Egyptology. For researchers and bibliophiles, this catalog offers a glimpse into the intellectual foundations of early American archaeology and the development of the Brooklyn Museum's renowned Egyptian department.
