First published in 1965, this children's story by the renowned Irish writer James Joyce has been out of print since 1988.
Originally written for Joyce's grandson, it tells the story of the mayor of a small town, who makes a deal with the devil to build a bridge across the local river. When the devil comes to take his part of the bargain, the clever mayor appeals to the devil's weak spot – his love of cute cats.
This beautiful hardback edition will appeal to children, Joyceans, and lovers of beautiful picture books (and, of course, cats!).
James Joyce is regarded as one of the English language's greatest writers, and 2022 will mark the centenary of the publication of his masterpiece Ulysses, perhaps the most famous Irish book ever, which is celebrated in Dublin every year on 16th June in the major tourist event known as Bloomsday.
