Kate wants to act but when she looks in the mirror, she doesn't like what she sees. Can she get a role in the musical?
Beyond anything else, Kate wants to score the lead role in the school musical, Last Chance for Millie. She wishes she was like Ashleigh Monahan, a girl in her grade, who has the perfect looks for the lead. Not only that, Ashleigh has talent. But while Kate can sing and act really well, she thinks she doesn't measure up to Ashleigh's physical perfection.
While her parents and her friends Michael and Tash support Kate and her dream, is it enough to overcome her fears?
As part of the Rhiza Shorts series, The Casting Dilemma has a reading age of 10+ and an interest level of 14+, so is a great book for reluctant readers. The short chapters and low word count will help them stay engaged in the story as they wait to see whether or not Kate will overcome her low self-esteem and perform on stage. It will also help those who worry that they'll never achieve their dreams.
