Synopsis
Case studies are viewed as an increasingly popular teaching method in applied statistics. These 21 examples have been written at a level accessible to non-experts in biomedicine and statistical methods. The areas covered are biology, AIDS, environmental sciences, clinical medicine, health care and health policy, fisheries, forestry and wildlife, biopharmaceuticals and agriculture. Examples of statistical methods employed in these case studies are linear regression, survival analysis, ordered categorical and loglinear models, logistic regression, principal components and the design of experiments.
