A study by Thigpen and Cleckley, members of the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, on a patient exibiting Multiple Personality Disorder (now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder). The attributes and interactions of the patient's three personalities are documented as well as observations on and interactions with the patient by the psychiatrists. A precurser to the controversial book The Three Faces of Eve, the two authors, partners and pioneers in the fields of psychology, treated and studied a young woman from Edgefield, SC. They used various methods to diagnose, treat, and understand the disorder using theoretical principles established by early psycholgists such as Sigmund Freud and Morton Prince.
