Paperback. What if something that feels right. is quietly leading in the wrong direction? For millions of readers, The Purpose Driven Life has shaped how they think about God, purpose, and the Christian life. Its message is clear, practical, and deeply appealing. It speaks directly to the desire for meaning, direction, and fulfillment. But what if the starting point is off? What if the shift is not found in what is removed-but in what is rearranged? In The Case Against Purpose-Driven Christianity, Joe Soares carefully examines a message that has been widely accepted, not to attack a person, but to test what is being taught against what Scripture actually says. This book exposes a subtle but critical shift: When purpose becomes the starting point instead of sinWhen feelings begin to shape how Scripture is interpretedWhen structure replaces surrenderWhen the gospel becomes a step instead of the centerWhen Christ is followed as a guide rather than submitted to as LordThis is not a surface-level critique. It is a step-by-step examination of how a message can sound right, feel right, and still lead in a different direction when placed against the full weight of Scripture.Because the issue is not whether something is helpful. The issue is whether it is true. And those are not the same. A life built around purpose is not the same as a life built around Christ. And when that difference is not seen clearly, everything that follows begins to take shape on the wrong foundation. This book is a call to examine, to return, and to follow Christ-not as a guide to your life, but as Lord over it. What if something that feels right… is quietly leading in the wrong direction?
For millions of readers, The Purpose Driven Life has shaped how they think about God, purpose, and the Christian life. Its message is clear, practical, and deeply appealing. It speaks directly to the desire for meaning, direction, and fulfillment.
But what if the starting point is off?
What if the shift is not found in what is removed—but in what is rearranged?
In The Case Against Purpose-Driven Christianity, Joe Soares carefully examines a message that has been widely accepted, not to attack a person, but to test what is being taught against what Scripture actually says.
This book exposes a subtle but critical shift:
- When purpose becomes the starting point instead of sin
- When feelings begin to shape how Scripture is interpreted
- When structure replaces surrender
- When the gospel becomes a step instead of the center
- When Christ is followed as a guide rather than submitted to as Lord
This is not a surface-level critique.
It is a step-by-step examination of how a message can sound right, feel right, and still lead in a different direction when placed against the full weight of Scripture.
Because the issue is not whether something is helpful.
The issue is whether it is true.
And those are not the same.
A life built around purpose is not the same as a life built around Christ.
And when that difference is not seen clearly, everything that follows begins to take shape on the wrong foundation.
This book is a call to examine, to return, and to follow Christ—not as a guide to your life, but as Lord over it.
