Synopsis:

The mechanics and geometry of a game of pool is a metaphor for the complexity of an Algy Temple murder mystery. In Carom Shot, the pool playing lawyer for Carter University is faced with a serial rapist on campus, the shenanigans of Providence s mendacious mayor, and the rhetoric of a charismatic African-American minister bringing an already edgy campus to a boil. With the murder of a former student, Algy and psychologist Nadie Winokur find themselves caught in webs of campus politics, jealousy, corruption, and revenge. Like in a game of pool, Algy calls his pocket, aims, and gives it his best shot. Will it be enough to bring justice to the victim?

About the Author: In 40 years as an attorney, Partridge has focused primarily on civil law, leaving the criminal side to his fellow barristers. However, his experience has given him a first-hand insight into the workings of colleges and universities, many types of businesses, as well as courtrooms and local politics. Born in Central Falls and raised in Pawtucket, Partridge has homes both in Providence and Westerly, and describes people and places with the keen eye of a native son. Partridge is involved in numerous civic and charitable organizations, including serving as co-chairman of The Pawtucket Foundation, vice-chairman of the President s Council at Providence College, and trustee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Pawtucket, to name just a few.
