Deluxe edition of the facsimile of Picasso s 1955 1956 sketchbook, limited to 100 numbered copies, this being no. 61, issued with the original signed lithograph and the extra suite of 37 plates. The publication faithfully reproduces the drawings executed in Picasso s studio at La Californie in Cannes, together with studies for works produced between 1 November 1955 and 14 January 1956. The facsimile sketchbook comprises 25 leaves of illustrations, bound in a spiral notebook that replicates the format and sequence of the artist s original carnet. Exclusive to the deluxe issue, this copy includes the original lithograph signed by Picasso, as well as the complete suite of 37 prints on Arches paper, each presenting the sketchbook drawings in single-sheet format and housed in the publisher s illustrated Arches folder decorated with Picasso s designs. The ensemble is contained in the publisher s cloth-covered box, featuring a printed reproduction of a Picasso drawing and fitted with an inner cloth-covered tray with ties. A very good copy, showing light creasing and minor offsetting to a few plates; the box with some foxing, rubbing, and small areas of wear. Ref: (Cramer 101; Bloch 900).
