About this Item

Engraved portrait, which at an earlier date has been removed from a printed source, trimmed, and later mounted to a card, by a pasted & hinged paper tab (along the length of the top edge of the print). Size of trimmed print: 5 1/2" x 7 1/4"; size of engraving: 4" x 5 1/4" (size of portrait is 3" x 4"); mounted on a 6 3/4" x 9 1/2" sheet of cream colored, paper card. Top edge of print carries the page number: 262 (with 261 on the back), and number XLIV. [44]. The portrait is framed in a finely engraved & fanciful border of plant & animal forms. Printed a laid paper, which shows a partial watermark. We have not been able to identify the printed source of this engraving, or who engraved it. Two small worm holes are present in the lower left-hand of the border (near R in CAR), some slight surface dusting. Portrait image is clean & bright. Paper card shows slight age-tanning, dusting.
