Extremely scarce printing! "Six o'clock, Monday morning, October 17, 1859, was one of the most thrilling moments of my life. I was a boy at the time, learning the watch-maker's trade at Charlestown, Jefferson County, Virginia. At that hour, on that historic day, I was awakened by the long roll of drums and the strident notes of fifes calling 'Assembly!'." ----- from Chapter 1 (The Lecture).
