Print on Demand. This book follows the story of four siblings who struggle to keep their family together after the sudden departure of their parents to distant lands. The author captures the delicate balance of childhood and adolescence; the four Dudley children face impending adulthood while still yearning for the security of home. We watch them grow into adulthood, facing life's challenges with a mixture of excitement and trepidation. The Dudleys are also a window into the societal changes of the time period. Theirs is a world of Victorian manners struggling to keep up with the advancements of the early 20th century. The reader gets a glimpse into the world of the American middle class as they cling fiercely to their social status, while the rest of the world changes around them. This book is a coming-of-age story about family, societal expectations, and the often painful transition from childhood to adulthood. It is a nostalgic and hopeful tale of four children growing up in a time of change and uncertainty. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
