Captain Fritz - His Friends and Adventures. By Emily Huntington Miller and printed in New York City by E.P. Dutton and Company. 1878. [4] + 129 pp. 8” x 6.5”. 8vo. Hardcover decorative full cloth. In good condition, with ink stain on front board. Some loss at head and heel of spine. Light shakiness around front hinge. Text block remains bound well. Presentation bookplate on front pastedown. Includes frontispiece with tissue guard. Nicely illustrated throughout with black-and-white engravings. Ex-library from the Metropolitan Club library, with bookplate and library’s name imprinted into some pages. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce and nicely preserved piece of Gilded Age children’s literature by Emily Huntington Miller (1833-1878), an American poet and editor who co-founded St. Nicholas Magazine.
