CAPROCK RANGE
A Western Thriller of Land, Blood, and the Cost of Power
A federal marshal rides into a quiet basin-and walks straight into a war no one will admit exists.
Marshal Holt is tracking a killer across New Mexico territory when he finds the body of a sheepherder hanging from a cottonwood tree. The local sheriff calls it an accident. Holt knows better. And when a rifle cracks from the caprock rim-precise, intentional, meant as a message-Holt realizes he's stumbled into something far deeper than one murder.
The basin is split in two:
Silas Drummond, a powerful cattleman accustomed to getting his way,
versus
The Amaya family, Basque sheepherders with a legal claim to the upper bench-and three dead men in six weeks.
But this isn't a simple range feud.
Someone has been forging land filings. Planting survey stakes in the night. Sending "polite visitors" with clean boots and fake names. And now the killings are escalating.
Every trail points to a ghost Holt once put in a Texas jail: Reyes Cota-a man who doesn't make threats. He makes plans.
When Pilar Amaya is taken hostage on the caprock and bullets start carving the limestone, Holt is forced into a brutal race against a conspiracy built on money, murder, and frontier law twisted to serve powerful men.
To save the innocent-and stop a range war engineered from the shadows-Holt must outshoot, outthink, and outlast a villain who has been studying him for years.
And this time, Cota isn't making mistakes.
