Delabere Pritchett Blaine (1768-1845) was an English veterinary surgeon and Professor of Animal Medicine, and also published several works on animal anatomy and veterinary medicine. 'Canine Pathology' was his second work, first published in 1800. He has divided the book into three parts. The first part embraces the natural history of ther dog, with an inquiry into his primeval origin, and into the possible sources of his prominent varieties. The second part is devoted to a theoretical and practical consideration of the system of breeding and rearing these animals, with their general treatment and the means of keeping them in health. The third part comprehends their diseases, when their health has been attacked. The book is bound in later, probably mid to late 20th century quarter leather over blue cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear on the boards. The contents are tight and secure and the book has new endpapers. The pages are clean apart from a few small marks and a little scattered very light foxing. There are a few marks from finger smudges on the contents pages and a few other pages.
