Item description from seller

Candy by Maxwell Kenton. Lancer books, 1965. Cover states "NOT ONE WORD CHANGED! This is the ORIGINAL, UNCUT and UNEXPURGATED edition as first published and banned in Paris. Paperback in good condition. Binding tight, pages heavily toned, two tiny cover tears and a chip on the back cover (see photos). An excellent and collectible counterculture title, especially this edition, Candy by Maxwell Kenton (pseudonym of Terry Southerrn and Mason Hoffenberg) was first published in Paris in 1958 and was swiftly banned for obscenity. Candy is a satirical erotic novel, inspired by Candide, that lampoons sexual mores and American innocence through the adventures of the naive but willing Candy Christian. This 1965 Lancer first printing proudly proclaims itself the original uncut edition, making it a prized collectible of the sexual revolution era.

Store description

My late wife and I spent a lot of time accumulating books, especially during COVID. With her gone, the books are a reminder of her. Hence, it's time for me to Turn the Page. Update: Please note I have recently moved to New Mexico (September 2026) where our chihuahua, Pedro, will no longer have to slog through snow and ice - the state where my beloved wife and his mommy lived before we met. Thank you for all your orders since opening this storefront!
