Prepare for Treatment With a Clearer Plan
A cancer diagnosis can quickly fill your calendar with scans, consultations, tests, and treatment decisions. You may also hear advice such as “stay active,” “eat well,” or “get fit for treatment” without being told what those instructions mean in daily life. Cancer Prehabilitation Made Easy gives you a practical way to use the time before cancer surgery or treatment without turning preparation into another source of pressure.
What This Book Helps You Do
This patient-friendly guide explains cancer prehabilitation, often called cancer prehab, and shows how physical activity, strength, nutrition, breathing preparation when appropriate, sleep, smoking and alcohol changes, psychological preparation, and practical support can fit together. Instead of offering a rigid fitness program, it helps you identify what matters most for your situation, what to discuss with your cancer team, and what you can realistically do with the days or weeks available before treatment.
You will learn how to build a simple exercise base before cancer treatment, approach nutrition when appetite or weight has changed, understand when breathing or respiratory preparation may be relevant before surgery, protect sleep, manage treatment-related uncertainty, and organize useful support from family, friends, and healthcare professionals. The book also includes adaptable 7-day, 14-day, and 28-day prehab plans so that readers with different treatment timelines can begin from where they are.
A Practical, Safety-First Approach
What makes this book different is its focus on the short period between diagnosis and treatment. The guidance is organized around realistic decisions rather than perfection. It explains where self-directed preparation may be reasonable, where individual medical advice matters, and why treatment should never be delayed simply to complete a prehab plan. Clear action steps, checklists, examples, and questions for your healthcare team help turn general advice into something you can use.
Who This Book Is For
This book is for readers who are newly diagnosed with cancer and waiting for surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or another treatment; people who have been told to become fitter or stronger before treatment but need practical direction; adults who are currently inactive and want a safe place to begin; active patients who need to adapt their usual routine; and family members or caregivers who want to provide useful support without adding pressure.
A More Useful Way to Use the Waiting Period
Cancer prehabilitation cannot guarantee a particular treatment result, and no book can replace advice from your oncology, surgical, rehabilitation, or nutrition team. What it can provide is structure. If you want a clear, practical guide to preparing your body and mind before cancer treatment, Cancer Prehabilitation Made Easy offers a focused place to begin.
