Item description from seller

In 1914 A. A. "Pop" Jameson of Atlanta founded Camp Dixie for Boys in Wiley Georgia, near Clayton in the NE corner of the state. A few years later, in 1919, he open the girls' camp across the lake, described in the catalog for the 1923 season as "A Superior Camp for Selected Girls, Idealizing of Purity, Vigilance for Safety, Development of Character, Cultivational of Good Manners, Inculcation of Spiritual Ideals. The catalog spends a good deal of it's content on how great the camp is and on how superior it's campers are! "Girls needing discipline are neither desired or retained."; Actually the Dixie Camps were very well regarded for many years and were open through the 2019 season. Now the properties are for sale, due to the difficulties of the past two years. The catalog has lots of pictures, and a laid in letter of recommendation from two Atlanta pastors. There is also included a hand-written , front and back, note about a Girl Scout troop from 1922, no location given, but of course Camp Dixie drew girls from all over, so it could be anywhere.; It's a nice little first hand account of the troop's camping trip. The catalog measures 11 by 7", 24 pages., in VG condition with minor wear and toning.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; non-paginated pages.…
