Print on Demand. This book offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into author and photographer A.G. Wallihan's unique method of capturing breathtaking photographs of big game animals in their natural habitats. His account of studying the animals, developing his techniques, and the challenges of wildlife photography in the late 19th Century provide rich insight into hunting as both sport and art. The pursuit of elk, antelope, cougars, blacktail deer, and mountain lions demanded meticulous preparation and hunting instincts, revealing not only a respect for the animals but a love for the wild places he ventured into. These stunning images, recreated here, showcase the author's skill and present a glimpse into a rapidly changing world where the preservation of both wildlife and wild places hung in the balance. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The difificulties of getting really good and characteristic photo graphs are such as to be practically insuperable where game is very scarce and very shy, and throughout most of the United States game is steadily growing scarcer and shyer. Photo graphs in a game preserve, no matter how large this preserve, are, of course, not quite the same thing.
