Why do the names of all these publishers now all sound like giant law firms? Oh, wait. . . . Herein, another pair of plodding Scandinavian investigators fail to figure out the problem -- basically, the community's teen-agers are all insane. No sense asking the parents to intervene; most of them appear to be drunks. 244 pp.

- Mysteries, Really Awful Books
One mild summer evening, a young couple are enjoying dinner while their daughter sleeps peacefully in her stroller under a tree. When her mother steps outside she is stunned: The child is covered in blood.
Inspector Sejer is called to the hospital to meet the family. Mercifully, the child is unharmed, but the parents are deeply shaken, and Sejer spends the evening trying to understand why anyone would carry out such a sinister prank. Then, just before midnight, somebody rings his doorbell.
No one is at the door, but the caller has left a small gray envelope on Sejer’s mat. From his living room window, the inspector watches a figure disappear into the darkness. Inside the envelope Sejer finds a postcard bearing a short message: Hell begins now.
This is classic Fossum—and the critics are saying this is her best book since The Indian Bride.

Terms of sale
Email vin@catscuriosities.com. For return and refund information see Abe Books policies. Delivery of parcels to Africa, Latin America, and Asia (except Japan and Singapore) can be problematic. We urge prospective buyers in these regions to contact us in advance to determine if secure shipping can be arranged. Delivery to a relative, business associate or consular official in North America, Europe, Japan or Australia is often the best option. In our experience, deliveries to Italy and France take at least three weeks, regardless of shipping method; we cannot control Customs delays in those countrioes. NOTE: Cat's Curiosities sells used books. We attempt to identify books which have a damp or musty smell, when we sell them at all. Otherwise, while our books are currently stored in a temperature-controlled, smoke-free location, buyers should assume our used books have previously been shelved inside human habitations and have been exposed over the decades to some combination of wood smoke, tobacco smoke, leather dressing, or other aromatic agents unknown to us. We offer no certificates of hypoallergenic purity. Those wishing to make symbolic gestures of support for the prohibition of tobacco and other medicinal plant extracts should apply elsewhere.
