CALIFORNIA GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS TODAY
Twelfth Edition
Mona Field
This lively text offers clear and succinct coverage of California government and politics that will engage and inform students.
Mona Field, the book’s author, is both a college professor and an elected official in California and thus offers a unique insider's view into its political system. The twelfth edition continues the book's long-standing tradition of blending political data with economic, cultural, and demographic trends, analyzing the link between the economy and the political process, and encouraging political activism and the development of students’ own unique political views.
New to the Twelfth Edition
- "Debating the Issues" boxes promote critical thinking and debate by presenting and drawing students into contrasting views of important political issues facing the state.
- "Compared to California" boxes highlight unique aspects of the political structures and processes of California by comparing them to the federal system, other states, and other nations. Critical thinking questions stimulate class discussion.
- "Enjoying Media: Movies to See and Websites to Explore" sections at the end of each chapter list websites, popular films, and documentaries that illuminate various aspects of California’s politics, culture, and history.
