Gilt titles with gilt and green decoration on red cloth boards which have a small mark to rear lower corner else very clean and unmarked with no wear. Internally there are tipped in colour cut outs from a magazine to front and rear endpapers (neatly done), evidence of a removed small label (or similar) to half title page, some sporadic foxing to the back of the illustrations else clean, tight and unmarked. Dustjacket is age darkened, worn to edges with loss to spine and a has a repaired tear. 192 pages. Decorative endpapers.13 full page illustrations and others in the text by Leonard Huskinson. The book is a collection ofhints, reminders, scraps of half-forgotten lore, and recipes for food, drink, lotions, floor polishes, and so on, written to persuade the rural or urban housewife that nothing need be wasted. As the book is arranged in calendar form, and as the author has time (or makes time) to step out of the kitchen and revel in the attractions of garden, field and forest, the narration makes absorbing reading.
