Add to basketCain, the world's first murderer, has lived a cursed life for 8,000 years. Now, in our modern times, he must make a choice that will save or damn the world.
Cain First Born, a 330-page, color, fantasy, action, adventure, graphic novel, where the familiar meets the fantastical, tells the epic journey of Cain, the first son of the created Adam and Eve, who killed his brother Abel and was cursed to wander the Earth for eternity as punishment.
But the truth is: Abel had it coming.
Wandering the Earth, Cain doesn't age, doesn't sleep and remembers all he sees. Called out by God as a killer, that is what Cain decides to embody. He becomes the perfect killing machine, an unstoppable force of nature, like an approaching hurricane. Through the ages, he's killed for payment, pride and principle and in our modern world that hasn't changed.
But Cain no longer wanders the Earth alone. The Penumbra, a secret order of Knights Templar was tasked to protect Cain in the 1300's, because in a dream their founder saw that the mark of Cain bestowed by God also embodied the end of humanity. For if a human kills Cain, then the wrath of God shall be seven times seven-fold upon all humanity. The end of the world. So, now the Penumbra protect Cain. They do not judge or stop Cain, but they do die for the cause of protecting Cain's life and in that action saving all humanity.
Our story begins in the plague ravaged city of Chilimoth, where Cain hunts the voodoo priestess, Samira. Someone wants her dead and Cain willingly complies. But this one job turns into only the first domino to fall. It begins a cascade of events as the world wide plague and rice famine creates enough tension to threaten war between India and Pakistan. Plague, Famine, and War across the globe embody the manifestations of the horsemen of the apocalypse. And their leader, Tiberius, prepares for the end of all humanity.
Angelo, the Penumbra leader and Cain's only friend watches as Cain kills Samira, who foretells his actions have set the wheel of fate in motion. After her death, Angelo leaves to recruit the next Penumbra to replace one who died protecting Cain.
Angelo recruits Joan, the first female Penumbra, whose past is full of mystery and secrets to match all the history of Cain's.
Together, Cain, Angelo and Joan proceed to Cain's next job. He must kill a pregnant woman. His actions outrage Joan, who tries to stop him. She fails. Cain kills the women, but Joan delivers her baby. Angelo believes the baby is the new redeemer, because outside, the powerful demon Pestis waits to kill them. Angelo pleads with Cain and is willing to break his Penumbra vows to protect the baby. Cain is moved by this, because Angelo has never reacted to anything Cain has done. Cain agrees to protect the baby.
By protecting the baby, Cain now must face and defeat the horsemen of the apocalypse and he places his destiny directly in the path of the end of the world. Cain must use all his cunning and skills to confront and defeat those bent on destroying humanity. And he must face the ultimate decision of how much is he willing to sacrifice to protect the baby and the human race.
In the final showdown with the demon Krieg, Cain decides.
His choice surprises everyone. Especially Krieg.
