Print on Demand. This book presents an in-depth exploration of the Cahokia Mounds, an extensive Native American settlement complex located near present-day St. Louis, Missouri. The author, a respected archaeologist, combines the results of two seasons of excavation with insights from other experts to provide a comprehensive understanding of this ancient metropolis. The book delves into the cultural practices, daily lives, and architectural achievements of the Cahokia people. It examines the significance of the mounds and other structures, ranging from temple and burial sites to domestic dwellings. Through detailed descriptions of artifacts and skeletal remains, the author reconstructs the social, economic, and spiritual aspects of this complex society that flourished over 1,000 years ago. By placing the Cahokia Mounds within the broader context of pre-Columbian North American cultures, the book highlights the remarkable ingenuity and sophistication of the Mississippian civilization. It challenges traditional narratives about Native American history, emphasizing the vast interconnectedness of indigenous communities and the enduring legacy of their contributions to human civilization. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
